Aztec Guardians of the Flame (4 people needed)
Embody the ancient world of the Aztecs as a loveable Chaneke (a mischievous spirit) while keeping the performers safe during this year’s fall Tribal Burn fire show. Be part of creating the magic as the story unfolds. You will be on stage as a fire safety, in character, and have some minor interaction with the performers on stage at various times during the show.There are four spots available for this position.
Course Includes:
- 4 hours Professional Fire Safety Training, Practice & Rehearsal
- Includes a prop that will be used in one of the scenes, which you will be able to keep
Training Dates:
Location: Sacred Lands, 1700 Park Street N., St. Petersburg, 33710
Sunday, October 19, 11am-1pm
Sunday, November 2, 2-4pm
What you will do:
- Remain in place on stage throughout the show to help with: placing/removing props - fire and non fire, putting out fire props, closely watching fire performers to be sure they remain safe.
- You need to be able to squat/sit down on the brick performance area for the entire show, have a continuous and watchful eye on fire performers, quick reaction time if there is an emergency, and not be afraid of fire.
- Attend rehearsals/show: blocking rehearsal: Sunday, November 16, 3-5pm, dress rehearsal: Friday, November 21, 6:30-9:30pm, show: Saturday, November 22, 6:30-9:30 (or until show is over). There may be additional rehearsals to work with an individual group or scene as needed.
- Bring a patient and flexible spirit as things need to ebb and flow as they develop.
Cost/Costuming:
- Wear long solid black leggings or pants, solid black short sleeved t-shirt.
- Face painted for character by our professional makeup artist (unless other arrangements are made), cost approx. $15-40 depending on complexity.
